How to play

Guess the hidden five-letter word in six tries. Type a word with your keyboard or the on-screen keys and press Enter. Each guess must be a real word.

After each guess, the tiles change to show how close you were:

S is in the word and in the right spot: a teal tile with a solid dot.

A is in the word but in the wrong spot: an orange tile with a ring.

H is not in the word: a grey tile with no mark.

The on-screen keyboard keeps track of the letters you have tried. Colour-blind mode switches to blue and amber, and the dot and ring marks are always there too.

Everyone gets the same word on the same day, so please don’t spoil it for others: the Share result button copies your coloured grid without the letters.

Frequently asked questions

What is Tidy Sheets Daily Word?
A free daily five-letter word game. Everyone gets the same word each day, and you have six guesses to find it. After each guess the tiles show which letters are in the right spot, which are in the word but in the wrong spot, and which are not in the word at all.

When does a new word come out?
At midnight UK time every day, in both GMT and British Summer Time. The countdown under the game shows how long is left until the next word. Puzzle #1 was on 19 October 2026.

Does it use British spellings?
Yes. Every answer is a common British English word, so you might see words like METRE, FIBRE or QUEUE but not their American spellings. Your guesses can be any word from a much larger British English word list.

How are repeated letters scored?
Each letter in the answer can only be matched once. Right-spot matches are marked first. If you then guess a letter more times than it appears in the answer, the extra copies are marked as not in the word. For example, if the answer is ABBEY and you guess BABES, the first B and the A are marked as in the word, the second B is in the right spot, the E is in the right spot and the S is not in the word.

Is my data stored anywhere?
Your guesses, streak and statistics are saved only in your own browser’s local storage on your device, and the game never sends them to us. There is no account, no sign-up and no adverts. Like the rest of Tidy Sheets, the page counts visits with Cloudflare’s cookie-free Web Analytics (see our privacy page).
